ACCEPTING Applications for the classes beginning Fall 2025

UC SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
FIGR's UC Scholarship provides in-state systemwide Tuition and Student Services Fees and Campus Fees for students who are California Native Americans but not members of a federally recognized tribe. This scholarship applies to undergraduate and graduate students for professional and non-professional degrees. Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are due by August 1, 2025.
If you are a member of a tribe that is federally recognized, the UC's Native American Opportunity Plan provides similar financial support for in-state systemwide Tuition and Student Services Fees. We encourage you to work with your campus's Native American resource center or community center to identify these opportunities.
WHAT'S COVERED IN THE FIGR UC SCHOLARSHIP
The FIGR UC Scholarship covers in-state systemwide Tuition and Student Services Fees and Campus Fees for eligible applicants. Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition may be covered depending on availability of funds.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for the FIGR UC Scholarship, applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Not a member of a Federally Recognized tribe;
- Either:
- Have a certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) showing a California tribal affiliation
- OR
- Descend from a person with a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) showing a California tribal affiliation, on the California census rolls of 1928 or 1933, or on the California Judgment Fund Rolls of 1953 or 1972
- California Resident
- Current or newly admitted UC undergraduate, graduate, or professional school student; and
- Enrolled in a Qualifying UC Degree Program.
Documentation required:
- Completed Application form (link below)
- A copy of the applicant's state-issued photo identification card or driver's license
- One of the following:
- CDIB showing a California tribal affiliation
- OR
- Certified copies of original birth or death certificates for each generation of the applicants' ancestry linking them back to a person with a CDIB showing a California tribal affiliation, on the California census rolls of 1928 or 1933, or on the California Judgment Fund Rolls of 1953 or 1972; and
- Completed family tree form (link below), if appropriate.
Note: A letter from a tribe will not be accepted as proof of eligibility. Applicants must self-certify that they are not a member of a federally recognized tribe. FIGR will keep sensitive applicant information confidential and store original documents safely until returning them to the applicant. Copies will only be used for purposes of determining eligibility, and such copies become property of FIGR. You must satisfy the eligibility criteria to receive a scholarship.
