The Establishment of TANF
In 2008, as a federally recognized Indian Tribe composed of Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo peoples, the Tribe received funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Administration for Children and Families to launch its own Tribal TANF program. This initiative supports low-income Tribal families in Sonoma and Marin counties and offers a range of programs and services designed to strengthen families, including employment assistance, job training, and childcare support. The Tribal administration department's mission is to provide the highest quality support services efficiently and effectively to all tribal departments, citizens, and external agencies. . Each of these programs reflects the Tribe’s commitment to healing the scars of the past while empowering the community to build the Tribal leaders of tomorrow.
