Our Mission
To improve the living conditions of Tribal Citizens by providing for decent, safe, and sanitary housing, rehabilitating substandard housing, reducing overcrowding, and increasing the affordability of rental housing and homeownership opportunities through the provision of supportive services and financial assistance programs in a fair and impartial manner.
FIGR Housing
About Us
The Housing Department was formed to improve the quality of life for Tribal Citizens of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria (FIGR) by assisting Tribal Citizen households to obtain and maintain a comfortable, safe, and sanitary home. The Housing Department staff is here to serve Tribal Citizens through various housing programs developed by the Tribe and administered by the Housing Department. Some of the programs are funded by an annual Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), with additional programs funded from Tribal General Welfare Benefits (GWB). The primary service area for the Tribe includes Sonoma and Marin Counties, however selected programs are administered in a larger service area, with some programs available throughout the United States
Main Functions
- Assist Tribal Citizen households in obtaining or maintaining safe and affordable housing
- Conduct eligibility and intakes for Housing services
- Provide security deposits and monthly rental assistance payments for eligible households
- Provide down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers
- Provide home rehabilitation services for income-eligible households
- Provide aging in place home improvement for elders
- Conduct housing related education workshops, one-on-one counseling, and other related support activities
- Provide down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers
